This family favorite Saskatoon Berry pie will have everyone drooling! Easy to make and simply delicious, this classic prairie summer pie combines sweet Saskatoon berries with tangy lemons.
In a pan, simmer berries and 1/4 cup of water for 10 minutes.
Squeeze in lemon juice.
Combine sugar and flour in a separate bowl and then stir into the berry mixture.
Allow sauce to thicken to desired consistency, then pour the mixture into a pre-prepared pastry-lined pie pan or pastry-lined tart shells.
Dot pie or tart shells with dollops of butter. For a pie, place the second crust on top of the pie; seal the edges.
Bake for 15 minutes. Then reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake for an additional 35 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool before serving
